Daxter the Cat Quilt

Daxter is the feline companion of one of my dear friends. I couldn't resist choosing this endearing photo of him and his brother, Jethro, napping as inspiration for the portrait. I decided to focus on the sleeping face of this sweet and sensitive boy to highlight his innocence, gentleness and cuddly demeanor. Even though his guardian Liz adores his glowing amber eyes, she agrees that this portrait truly captures his affectionate disposition and has told me that she hopes I will one day immortalize all ten of her companions.

"Daxter" was created with a variety of fabrics including velvet, satin, silk and cotton. The textures of the different fabrics make the image come alive. The quilt measures 32" h x 30" w and is stitched to within 1/4 inch. Currently in private collection.
